Through achieving a lifelong dream and building a life of my own design, I drew on a lesson learned long ago. Education is the one thing nobody can take away and is a tool for powerful change.
It was time to jump in with both feet. After months of preparation, I finished my final school year as a speech pathologist before becoming a full-time REALTOR® in 1999.
Not long after beginning real estate, I became a single mother to my three children and leaned fully into my faith. My faith has been instrumental in my life for as long as I can remember. I still recall attending church as a young girl with my grandparents. I was baptized when I was 10 years old and learned through the church to love above all else. As a newly-single mom, I trusted God to provide for us so long as I stayed open, loving, and followed my plan. I knew through thick and thin He was in it with me.
I am so grateful for how things have worked out, and I was blessed to find success early in my real estate career. Real estate allowed me to be there for my children and provide them with new opportunities. It was definitely a balancing act, and often my children would wake up to their lunches made and clothes ironed only to ask, “Mom, did you sleep?” The answer was always, “Yes.” There was no magic 25th hour; life just worked.
Of course, at times I grew overwhelmed, but in those moments, I would step back and be with my children. I had the opportunity to be a homeroom mother, t-ball coach and more. I loved having a house with plenty of room for my children and their friends to hang out. It was a blessing to be able to create that space for them and stay involved in the community through whatever my children were active in at the time.
I am all about my family. Louisiana has been my home for decades, and with my three children and seven grandchildren here, I could not imagine life anywhere else. Though my children are grown with families of their own, I enjoy being “Nonni” to my grandchildren, who are a regular part of my life. With more time now, I have found new ways to be involved at church and in the community. I have also had the opportunity to do more through real estate.
My interest in real estate goes back to helping my uncle as a child. As a carpenter, he often took me with him to renovate houses. I loved picturing how I could help each home look its best. Even today, I can make a home wherever I happen to be.
There was one continuous thread through it all—education. My father always said education is the one thing no one can take away. That priority for education has shown up in different ways throughout my life: as a Sunday school teacher, through encouraging my children to earn their degrees, and in real estate. Since 2006, I have been mentoring and training new agents. I am the educational instructor at my company and enjoy giving away all my secrets because that is how industries grow.
We are all trying to do our best, and as I have been reminded by God many times over the years, it is not all about us. I enjoy being a REALTOR® so I can use my strengths to help others and continue serving my community.
Whenever I am not working, I enjoy exercising, walking, running, and spending time with my family. My favorite part of being a REALTOR® is helping people by making a big difference in their lives and futures.
As your REALTOR®, I will start by listening. I want to fully understand your goals and expectations so I can figure out how to best help you achieve them. I pride myself on how I work together with my clients as a team. Real estate has been my life for 23+ years, and I enjoy using all I have learned to help my clients.
I know this market and the communities here very well, with strong relationships among other industry professionals. As an industry expert and educator, not only do I practice real estate every day, I know this business inside out.
I will stand my ground for my clients and negotiate fiercely to ensure they get the best terms possible. For me, real estate is all about the people I serve and how I can leave the biggest impact on their lives. Through making a difference and loving above all else, I will do whatever I can to help my clients and community grow. After the transaction is closed, I will continue serving your success as your lifelong REALTOR®.
Sincerely,
Nancy Harner
